Well Hello There!
It has clearly been some time since I last blogged and figured it was about time I jumped back on here! If you follow me on Instagram you know that a lot has changed for our family and if you don’t, you should, you are clearly missing out on all my sweet pictures!
For those that have no idea what is going on let me fill you in! Matt graduated from TBS (The Basic School) in May and became a Warrant Officer for the USMC. In April, we got orders that we would be moving to California! After almost 11 years in NC we were officially changing bases! A week after Matts graduation the movers arrived, and we were off! After 6 days of traveling we officially made it to our new home!
Well it has officially been a month since we have made California our home. So far, we have really enjoyed our time here and everything California has to offer. We are completely unpacked and settled in. Our movers were amazing, they gave us major tips on the most effective way to unpack which helped a lot, we were about 90% unpacked before they even left. We moved into a great neighborhood filled with lots of kids and everyone is so sweet.
There is still a lot to get used to, the traffic, the way the roads are set up have been a huge adjustment that I’m still not a fan of! Other than that, it has been a nice change of pace to have so much to do right near us. I even found myself complaining that I would have to drive 20 mins the other day…which if you know Eastern North Carolina, it takes 20 mins to just get to Target!
I did create my California Bucket List that we have been slowing crossing off. I really wish I would have done this when I first moved to North Carolina. The girls and I have been hiking around San Diego and seeing what all these little towns have to offer! Between all the yummy food and attractions, we have stayed very busy.
So here is to the next 3 years of making California our home and seeing what the west coast has to offer our family! I promise I will jump on here more and let ya’ll know how our time is going and what California has to offer!

While on vacation in Scottsdale, Arizona my mom, sister and I were looking for a good place to have breakfast. As most of us do, I went right to yelp to find us a place, and one of the first couple of listings was Hash Kitchen! The name itself caught my attention, as I scrolled through the reviews and pictures on yelp I knew we had to go and I am so glad we did! This place was AMAZING, heres why!
First off, the yelp reviews do not do this place justice. As soon as you walk through the doors you instantly get the feel that this is the go-to place or breakfast/brunch in Scottsdale, the restaurant itself is very well lit with a modern feel. They have both indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. On the nice days the garage style windows slide up, so you have full access to Arizona’s largest Bloody Mary Bar! YES, I said the largest Bloody Mary Bar! For all of you Bloody Mary lovers this is the place for you! If Bloody Mary’s are not your thing don’t worry they didn’t leave you hanging. Their Mimosa flight and Prosecco Mash were so light and tasty! They also have Cereal Cocktails that that take you back to your youthful days but be advised they do have alcohol in them so make sure you order a virgin for your kids!
Now onto the food! The menu itself is very creative and will make you want to order everything. We decided to order a bunch of different dishes and shared them amongst the 5 of us!
Cinnamon roll pancakes
Classic French Toast
HK Bloody Mary
I do not have a single complaint about any of the food we ordered, everything was amazing, it all came out together and were big enough portions to share. There Cannoli Doughnuts are to die for seriously, my mouth is watering just writing this. I am a big cannoli lover and they blew me away, they were perfect. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were a huge hit for my girls, it was a stack of three big pancakes that the five of us couldn’t even finish half of!
Over all I was extremely impressed but Hash Kitchen, everything from their food, to their staff was top notch. It is hard to find restaurants that can work for all types of events from a lady’s day brunch, to a business meeting in the middle of the week, Hash Kitchen works for everyone. The best part which I wish we could have enjoyed is they do they do have a DJ that plays on Sundays for brunch and some holidays! What a cool twist to Sunday Brunch! If you are near one in Scottsdale, Arizona you have to stop in and check it out! Don’t forget to hashtag them in all your pictures! #Hashhashbaby

My favorite thing to do on Sunday mornings is make a big breakfast for my girls, pancakes, French toast or even cinnamon rolls are their go to request.
Well just last week I was on FaceTime with a girlfriend who stationed in Japan, she was making breakfast for her son, and of course he is at the age where finger foods are a must. It got me thinking about my girls when they were his age and how I use to make Pancake Holes. Well Sunday morning came and I dug out my little Babycake cakepop maker out. My brother had given me this gift along with the babycake mini donut maker and this really cool popsicle maker at Christmas one year.
Anyways, Sunday morning came, and I knew I had to make these for them, the look on their face when they were done was so adorable! I love when they lit up with excitement!
Since I had lots of messages for the recipe here y’all go! Let me know in the comments on how your kids liked them!
What you need:
- Pancake mix
- Piping bag to put the pancake mix in
- Babycake Maker
Seriously y’all this is the easiest thing you will make, plus it makes so many that you can freeze them for later!
1. Make pancake mix via the direction on the box, mine calls for 1 3/4 cups of water for 2 cups of mix
2. Add as the desired amount of sprinkles you want to the mixer. I go a little crazy with mine and then stir until all the clumps are gone.
2. Scoop mixture into a Piping bag or Ziploc bag works just as well and cut the end just enough that some comes out easily.
3. Pipe mixer into the Babycake maker, I fill mine up all the way and then close the lip and wait for the light to come back on to indicate that it is done!
4. Serve and Enjoy!
I told you it was easy! When you finish cooking all the batter place the desired amount on plate with a side of syrup and you’re done! Your kids will have a blast dunking their pancake-holes into the little bowl of syrup and/or whipped cream! Let me know how your kids liked them!
